Getting married

Contribution by Saul Martin

I am getting married in three weeks. The time is flying by so fast, and I have so much to do. The invitation responses are coming in, and I have to turn in the count in another week. We still have attendants’ gifts to buy, and the programs to print. But everything is falling into place. Yesterday we closed on our very first house, and I am probably the most excited about setting everything up. My fiancĂ© and I have already moved all the furniture in, and he is going to start living there at the end of the week after the utilities are all on. I didn’t realize that there is so much to decide on when you are setting up your first home. The gas and electricity are provided by one service in the area, but we had to choose some other ones. We had to pick our garbage service and also decided on http://www.cabletvadvisor.com/ for our television service. We had to decide on new paint colors for all the rooms. My future father-in-law and his two brothers are going to help my fiancĂ© try to get everything painted after he moves in this weekend. This whole time of my life seems like such a dream. All the groomsmen are going to meet at the house the next weekend to have a bachelor party. I don’t even want to think about what is going to happen then. The same weekend my bridesmaids and I are going to stay at a hotel downtown and have our own bachelorette/lingerie party. I am going to try to remember every minute. I am so excited.

Planning My Wedding

This guest post from Lewis Beck

When I was planning my wedding I kept thinking to myself that my grandparent’s old farm way out on the lane would make a great venue.

So anyway, after I couldn’t find the type of venue I wanted I had someone in to clean the place up and that’s just where we held the reception! The barn itself is huge and cavernous but all the exposed wood and outdoorsy smells makes it really appealing for nature lovers like us. It was just the best day so I decided to quit my job and turn the whole place into an event venue. It took a long time and a lot of research – calling the city about permits and getting smallbusiness.xo t1 for the office and working with contractors – but now it’s up and running and we’ve got 20 weddings booked for next year alone. I can’t believe we’ve all just been sitting on this business opportunity ever since grandma and grandpa passed away! They’d love to know someone’s using the farm again, you know?

Design Your Dream Diamond Ring

When you are in a relationship with a gay girl, a diamond ring isn't always part of the equation.

There isn't always a chance to include formal traditions like getting engaged or having a wedding anniversary. Now that same-sex marriage has been legalized in a handful of states and countries, more and more lesbian women have been looking for engagement and wedding rings. Looking online you will find a lot of options, and even some lesbian friendly jewelers like Love and Pride. There is one site I like that is not lesbian specific, but has unique engagement rings called Diamond Mansion.

They have a system for designing your own custom rings and they also have a satisfaction guarantee:

If you are a gay girl who is looking to get engaged or if you have a wedding anniversary to celebrate, be sure to remember that you have plenty of options for diamond rings online, and Diamond Mansion is one.

Don't Fight Over Water Damage

When you are in a relationship there are all types of trials and tribulations, but you might never imagine that "water damage" could be an issue.

If you have ever lived with someone long term, you know it's really easy to step on their toes just by the little things that you do. Sometimes all it takes is being who you are to set the other person off in irritation. Consider the couple who fights over how one of them chews and you'll know what I'm talking about. Now imagine that couple when there is water damage at home. This could come from a minor leak in a pipe, a broken water heater, overflowing washer, broken fish tank, or any other type of water damage event that you can imagine.

If you are facing a water damage event like this, or maybe you are facing a larger event like a flood, be sure not to panic or fight with your loved ones when it happens. A lot of us have different instincts, and one person's reaction might be to try to place blame, while another's reaction is to get upset over lost belongings.

One of the ways you can prevent arguments like this in the first place is with flood insurance so that you can file a flood damage insurance claim to try to regain some of your costs. You'll also want to call on a professional water damage company to help stop the damage and try to restore some of your belongings.

Try to stay calm when you have water damage, and get through the event together; and start by looking for help online in your area. For example if you lived in Austin you would run a search on "water damage repair companies austin".

You would find links to a variety of water damage repair companies like the listing for The Steam Team at http://www.thesteamteam.com

Water damage specialists like this can help you by providing professional services that can save any files, books, or documents while stopping the long term effects of the water damage as soon as possible. They won't be able to restore your relationship though, so it's best to keep it from being damaged right from the start.

Perfect Fall Wedding Favors

I've figured out that it's easier for us to save money when it comes to our wedding if I DIY on some of the things.

I love making crafts and doing all other types of things like that though, so it's no big deal to do that. Plus, it gives me a little something to do while I get antsy waiting around to finally get married!

I've been waiting for this day for so many years anyway that it's good to do something productive while I'm waiting around for it to finally get here.I started looking for some ideas for DIY wedding favors a few months ago with my wireless internet here in Kansas City. I think that I've come up with some really neat ideas, too!I wanted to make sure that I came up with a favor that people would actually use so I fixed up a mix of this really rich hot chocolate and put it into mason jars with labels celebrating our nuptuals on it.

For others that don't like chocolate, I decided to have some Russian tea mix. I like to give people options. Plus, I know I'll use the leftovers of those if we have any.
